747-400 queen of the sky

747-400, manufactured by the Boeing company, an amazing aircraft in my opinion. It is, to me, the most beautiful plane in the sky. The best part is, I get to fly it !!!
2.5 months of extensive ground knowledge, I finally made it out and move on to the next stage - full motion simulator training.
I really miss flying 172...where the checklist is only 1 page and procedures are really simple....
in the jumbo, i spent 3 days to memorize the "cockpit preparation" for both left seat and right seat..
our 747 fleet, consists of  3 full passenger plane, 4 combi, and 9 freighters. which means....I will most likely be flying a lot of cargo flights! that's ....good, and bad.... the good things about cargo flights are... no passengers, arrival time is off peak, which means less traffic, and I'm excited to fly to DFW! the BAD part about it, is that the duty time is always midnight...  and the schedule is very unstable..
like I always say, things worth doing is always hard... so, bare with it!

all and all, i'm glad to have this opportunity to be introduced to the queen, I'm thankful.

Life is like a box of Cho-co-late....

Time building in the US was a lot of fun, after getting instrument rated, we are allowed to fly where ever we feel like and build our flight time and experience. I spent most of my time building phase with a cool Nepalese pilot- Suddat.
after we got our Commercial License in KDTO, we are bound for the next level, the airlines. I'm fortunate enough that Taiwan is in a huge pilot demanding phase, I entered EVA with little trouble. Suddat, on the other hand, wasn't as fortunate as I'm, he had to wait for his chance, today he told me that he got excepted in an charter company in Nepal flying dornier 228, a turbo prop. he will be done with ground within 2 weeks and start the flight training in the actual plane, in 2 months, you'll be flying in and out of remote airstrips doing STOLs and do the "real" flying, wow! seemed like his flying career was on a pause all this time and BAM!! I need a FO to fly my turbo prop, get ready to get paid and become a real pilot! reminds me of the famous Forrest Gump line-"life is like a box of cho-co-late, you never know what you gonna get", so true.. you never know... all we can do is hope for the best and plan for the worst, right ??

good luck and nice landings ! I knew you'll get it !

EVA Airway

EVA Airway, my second home for the next 1 year where I will receive advanced aviation knowledge and flight training. I have to say, I'm very lucky to have finish my CPL training and be able to make it in time before they stop hiring at end of the year.  My class, called ADV 50, advanced training class 50, also the largest group in EVA history, consists of 4 expat pilot, 5 cadet, and 20 CPLs.
In 2 months, I will finish this intense ground training and start simulation training, heard that's hard too ... but excited and looking forward to the challenge.

let's go for a jog around the park

I've been running along this route for several times before, 1 advantage about running around the park is that I can simply add a round if I feel comfortable, and advance in the training that way.
minor pain at the lower back as usual... had a burger for breakfast... saw a ATR, C-130 and a bigger jet, couldn't make out the model, too far..  burned only 300 Calories but...good exercise. keep it up.

long time no see

when's the last time I update this blog ? can't even remember, I think I should keep this thing updated "in case" someone out there actually is reading this..
Interviewing with EVA airline is the story of this past couple of months, I'm glad to say that I've cleared all the tests so far, first try, and on my way to the final stage, which is the 747 simulator. can't describe how unsure I am about it, why ? first of all, I DON'T FLY JETS!! especially a jumbo jet ... how are the controls ? heavy ? sensitive ? and I might have a problem scanning the glass cockpit... the HSI and the Flight Director...man..i should've done my multi training in the twin star.
Talked to some of the guys who has already been hired before me, they said the test is gonna be something like this - .take off, maintain 5000, climbing turn, climbing descent, steep turns, ILS, DONE !!! shouldn't be a big problem...
2 things that i'm really excited about EVA is, 1, their awesome fleet, consist 747 ,777, MD-11, A330. all heavies and mostly Boeing...just the way I like it...; 2 of all, their training is among the best in the industry, it's like going to a famous aviation school....for free ! no, and get paid !!!
I feel I'm really lucky to be where I am today and have this great opportunity. I should be thankful to people who support me and stood by me. I should work harder and keep this opportunity.
