Eclipes Project part II

Thunder storm came this morning, I thought it was gonna rain all day, but I was wrong, it became very pleasant with a slight breeze. perfect day to wash and wax the car !
so, the car is hand-washed, hand-dried, hand-waxed, hand-vaccumed, and it turned out really great, looks like NEW and it smells good  !! I think next step is to put a for sale sign on the window and post on craigslist...oh no..wait, need to fix that starter and find out what's causing the engine to die...anyway, right now it looks cool !

Eclipes Project part 1

First step, make sure the car is drivable.. that's what I thought, the battery is dead ! alright, i can always jump start it, it worked at first, and I let it run for about 20min before I shut it down and try to start it by itself...oops...I think the battery is REALLY dead, it can no longer store battery..hum....ok, change it at WalMart will take care of that... the battery is $75 ! a lot more than what I expected, I thought it's gonna be somewhere around $30... and the guy told me that I should get my starter checked out... yeah...even with a new battery, the starter sounded weak... I should get that checked out..   and finally, the car wash! haha...the guy at the car wash place saw me and told me it was too low to go into the car wash..haha.. okie, i'll just have to do it myslef, it's not like I've never done it before, so I went back home and get ready for a hand wash, ok...the hose is stuck....jeez !
i should be able to wash the car with some other hose, i'll get that tomorrow. and a self-service interior clean up.

SUNSHINE @@

yep~ after 2 days of COLD COLD snow, finally the sun shows up ! and the cat knows it ! sorry i can't let you go out, but good job utilizing that sunshine !! you can do that all day if you want, dont let it go to waste !!
50 F today and ZERO wind !!! nice and pleasant... I can't ask for more... it's perfect !

Great Flight

Today started out beautifully with the weather just perfect for flying, only a "minor" wind problem..
the wind started to blow as I approach the airport, and by the time I got to the airport, the wind was gusting at 20knots, which was outside the limitation...so i had to wait until it dials down...
20 min passed, and the wind is same, but from a different direction which reduced the velocity of our crosswind, GREAT ! let's go!
today is perfect to practice some crosswind landings as the wind today as 12knots of wind contributes to our direct crosswind ( which is the limite).. so, yeah, it was pretty exciting.. I had to land the plane on its right tire and stay for about 5 sec until the plane lost lift and drops on both of its tires, that's something i need to work on more...
As for the manuevers, I did the steep turn perfectly according to my instructor, he said if I were to take a checkride, that steep turn will pass, great ! " Turn around a point" was fun.  I asked him if he could demonstrate a 60 degree turn so that I can feel the "2 G", it wasn't like what I expected, feels like your face is going down towards your chest and your weight is just " HEAVY"...wow..
cool experience~ overall, today was pretty fun! had a lot done and good progress!!! keep up !!!

YOU MUST BE FREAKIN KIDDING ME @@

damn it ! ! that means one thing to me..." no flying today", but still I need to go for ground school..
ok...it's time to call out the snowman . ~~

this was taken after dark at 9:30pm. . . more snow, I was gonna go to walmart but then I see the raod is starting to be covered by snow..so..might as well take a pic, not every year does dallas has this amount of snow.

stalls and slow flight

昨天晚上還bouble check過今天是幾點要去飛的,早上故意睡晚一點因為要飛四小時然後接著馬上在四小時的地面科學。中午左右Grant打電話來 "chen, where are you ?","Im at home.. what's up ?"我回答他,"our scheduled flight is in 10min dude.."他說..哇靠!不會吧!我馬上上網看一下,2-6pm 6-10ground, 沒錯阿!等等!這是明天的行程!完了...家裡就算用飛的過去也要半小時...跟他討論一下把我排到四點...我真的是...怎麼搞的...NOT GONNA HAPPEN AGAIN!!
今天天氣很冷,卻是晴空萬里,難得的飛行的好天氣!我做了precheck 後就把飛機開到東北邊的練習區,他教我 power on/ power off stalls and slow flight, 多slow ? 40 KT!! 超慢的!這樣都不會掉下來喔..真的很神奇,其實我已經知道可以這樣了,FSX也玩過,可是當自己在三千尺高空上做這個動作,真的感覺我們是靜止不動的。power on/ off stalls 也是一樣,雖然在FSX上練習過也覺得沒什麼,可是當他第一次做的時候,他有一點點uncoordinated,所以當失速時機頭整個往旁邊掉下去,超像雲霄飛車,只是沒有軌道!我真的有點嚇到..哈
不過第三趟飛行,我覺得我進步了,不在手忙腳亂,也知道rudder 要輕輕踩,跟塔台說話在回程車上鍊阿鍊,下次應該會說的更順!Grant 說,以我這種進步速度下去,我馬上就要超過他另一個印度學生了,嘻嘻!爽~  基本上當我聽到這種讚美時我都會開始自大,但是不行,還是要一直覺得自己能力不如別人,這樣才會一直進步下去!!  加油加油!

Traffic Pattern@@

traffic pattern, 今天雲層沒有很高,所以就在本場練習pattern,本以為教官會先把飛機飛上去才讓我接手,沒想到他從一開始就要我全部操控! 這其實是個好事!讓我一開始就練習!不過我的耳機還沒來,所以跟學校借了一個爛爛的,我就請他幫我跟塔台聯絡。一堆的check list 後,瞄準跑道後 full throttle, little right rudder to conteract the left turning tendency. 轉crosswing, downwing- level fly- first flap right abeam the 1000 foot marker, 45degree turn on base and put 2nd flap, turn final and add 30degree flap, aim at the runway and flare, touchdown...果然!! 用寫得還是比較簡單!!一起飛後飛機都會想要往右邊轉,可是頭都會想要往左邊偏..很奇怪吧!直到空速高一點才會慢慢穩定,我一離開地面就不太知道飛機往哪飛因為正前方只有天空...哈  看一下儀器才比較知道原來我是怎樣飛得...基本上都還可以,除了我覺得我有一點點怕降落,不知道是不是怕...也許是...明明一切都set up 的很好,base 後雙手放掉都可以自己降落的完美trim,篇偏快落地了我就是想要拉起機頭,也許是視覺上我以為馬上就要著地了,可是教練說其實還有一兩公尺..所以這個還是要慢慢習慣,嗯嗯...要加強...
今天才飛1.1個小時,可是我卻覺得好像不只,一直touch and go應該有個八九次吧..
要慢慢進步了....

First flight ~


alright, so today I was supposed to fly in the morning, but due to weather minimums, we postponed the fly to the afternoon, which is perfectly fine with me.
the flight started off with me inspecting the plane, see what's cracked or broken, nothing was found, good. next, we hop into the plane, and he had ME taxing to the runway !, for the first time...it's kinda hard, had to control the plane with my feet and the power with my hand...need to get use to that.
today's weather was kinda windy, well....kinda VERY windy.. so the ride was bumpy and we kinda FELL onto the runway when he landed..we were up there about 1hr.. and I didn't know what i was doing or where I was for about 45 mins..
more fly lessons are scheduled, and ground school will start next monday, intensely.. 4hr a day 5 days week... so...getting pretty busy, that's good.
hope the wind dials down tomorrow..

MEET GRANT BARMBY

Today was supposed to be my first flight lesson, but ! unfortunately the weather was over the VFR limitation, so we stayed on the ground instead..(sucks)
anyway, I finally have a designated instructor, Grant, appears to be a pretty nice guy, first impression was pretty good. we went over some of the details about my forthgoing training, what to expect and what his role is. and it was my first time to sit inside an airplane, a small Cessna 152, yeah...our shoulders were touching, it was pretty tight . We went over the pre-flight checklist and how to get a dispatch approval. He was amazed that I already have lots of knowledge about airplanes as I have read through the private pilot handbook, so told me I was gonna pass through private pilot without any problem, let's hope so!
I am, however, scheduled for another flight tomorrow if the weather is good, can't wait to get started...as for now, I need to get some longer socks...and a DTO sectional chart.
PS: DAMN ENGINE CHECK LIGHT IS ON AGAIN..
